The preschool runs a morning session, which includes breakfast, fruit break and lunch. This session starts at 9:30 am and ends at 12:30pm.The preschool grounds and building provides a stimulating learning environment for the children.
Children can start preschool from the age of 3 ½ years. The learning and developmental needs of the children are being nurtured through a program that is based on play and the Early Years Learning Framework.
The session starts with the promotion of hygiene through brushing our teeth and ‘breath, cough and blow’.The children have an hour of outside play, where there is a focus on the development of large motor skills, social, emotional and life skills.
The inside session provides different learning areas that develop literacy and numeracy skills, small muscles, social, emotional and life skills.
The children have a healthy lunch at the end of the session in a designated area, where children are encouraged to tidy and clean up after themselves. The children are then taken home on the bus.
Preschool has strong links with the community and has an open door policy. Assessments are completed throughout the year and added to individual portfolios, which are presented to families at the end of the year. These assessments are based on goals that the children have achieved throughout the course of their preschool year. This provides a positive look at the child’s learning journey.
We have an effective transition from home to school program which is implemented from playgroup through to transition. The aim of this program is to ensure that families and children are comfortable with the routines and healthy attendance habits are formed.
